
India won the second T20I match against New Zealand by seven wickets. They chased down a target of 209 and have taken a 2-0 lead in the five match series. New Zealand were sent in to bat first and got off to great start in the power play but kept losing wickets as they lost the openers. But the onslaught did not stop as Ravindra and Phillips continued their good form. Chapman struggled a lot but Mitch Santner provided them with a great finish as New Zealand scored 209 batting first. Arshdeep Singh had a bad day as he conceded 53 runs and went wicket less.
In the chase, India lost their openers cheaply with Samson and Abhishek both getting out within two overs. Sanju was dropped on zero but could not capitalize as he fell for six runs caught at mid on. Abhishek Sharma was dismissed for a duck caught in the deep. India were in all sorts of trouble after losing their openers and the score was 8/2 after two overs with Ishan Kishan and Suryakumar Yadav in the middle.
Ishan Kishan walked in at 6/1 and it was a brutal onslaught as he smashed 76 runs of just 32 balls which included eleven fours and four sixes. He took the game on in power play of India’s run chase, Ishan Kishan was batting on 56 runs from 23 balls. The fifty by Ishan in just 21 balls helped him break Abhishek Sharma’s record. Suryakumar Yadav was also brilliant as he scored a half century after 468 days. Indian captain stayed unbeaten in the end.
Ishan Kishan was dismissed for 76 by Sodhi but the damage was done by then. Shivam Dube came in and batted well and along with Suryakumar Yadav helped India chase down the target within 16 overs. Shivam Dube remained unbeaten on 36 while captain Suryakumar Yadav was unbeaten of 82 runs of just 37 balls. India won the match and are leading the series 2-0 with the third T20I set to be played on Sunday.
