Aiden Markram scored his fourth One Day century and half centuries from Brevis and Breetzke help South Africa chase down a target of 358 with four wickets left in the Second ODI at Raipur. Earlier in the day, Ruturaj Gaikwad scored his maiden century while Virat Kohli managed successive hundreds as he broke plenty of records on his way to the 53rd ODI Century. KL Rahul scored a half century at a strike rate of more than 150 which helped India post a total of 358/5 in the first innings.

It looked a par total at the halfway mark but both captains mentioned it at toss that dew will play a huge factor in the second innings. From the bowling perspective Marco Jansen was the pick of the bowlers for South Africa picking up two wickets while Lungi Ngidi finished well with one wicket and bowled very well in the death overs. India could manage just 74 runs in the last 10 overs of their innings which definitely came to hurt them in the end.

South Africa lost Quinton De Kock early with Arshdeep Singh providing the crucial breakthrough. Markram along with Temba Bavuma steadied the ship and had a good partnership. The dew effect took place very early in the innings and it was really tough for the Indian bowlers and there were plenty of sloppy fielding as well.

A crucial moment of the game was when Yashasvi Jaiswal dropped a catch of Markram and tipped it over for six off the bowling of Kuldeep Yadav. A quick fire fifty from Brevis and a composed knock from Breetzke almost cruised South Africa to the chase. They did lose a few wickets in the back end and Tony De Zorzi went off the field with a hamstring injury and they still needed 27 runs of the last five overs.

Corbin Bosch and Keshav Maharaj put on a partnership to help South Africa get over the line in the final over. Aiden Markram was the player of the match a s South Africa levelled the series 1-1 with the decider set to be played on December 6. This effort from South Africa was also the joint second highest chase in ODIs in India.
