The cricketing fraternity has endured the loss of yet another cricketing icon as Ben Stokes announced his retirement from all forms of cricket with immediate effect. The England captain declared his retirement to his teammates during the Day 4 of the deciding test against England at Trent Bridge.

In the midday of the penultimate day of the final test of the series, Stokes told an emotional dressing room: "I've had many trips to the well before for this team, for you blokes and I've got one more trip to do." Shortly after the announcement of his retirement Richard Thompson, the ECB Chairman paid tribute to him as one of England’s greatest ever cricketers.

Ben Stokes was widely regarded as one of the best all-rounders in cricket over the years and he has plenty of milestones to show for as well. The fans will be left with a lot of memories of his clutch performances in international cricket across all three formats.

Ben Stokes led England to a historic victory in the 2019 ICC Cricket World Cup Final against New Zealand with an unbeaten 84. The England all-rounder played one of the greatest Test innings of all time, scoring 135 not out at Headingley and it was important for the side to win the 2019 Ashes.
