The Indian Premier League has seen some sensational knocks over the years right from the first game of the season, credit to Brendon McCullum’s outrageous century against RCB. The T20 format has been more of a batter’s game over the years but that doesn’t necessarily mean that it is easy to score. The approach of batters has evolved with every year and the players have been forced to increase their strike rates. It has often been characterized as the survival of the fittest with players like Virat Kohli proving to be a timeless gem and the others failing to adapt.

Brendon McCullum’s iconic 158* in the inaugural match of the IPL was the first of many centuries in the tournament. Then there were also several other great batters who reached the milestone and even secured the Orange Cap. Virat Kohli holds the record for the most number of centuries in IPL with 9 to his name. He has undoubtedly been the greatest batter in the history and in the 2016 season, he amassed 973 runs along with 4 centuries in the campaign.
