The wait for the 2026 Indian Premier League continues as the schedule for the tournament is yet to be released and there are only a few weeks left for the start of IPL. The upcoming edition of the IPL is set to begin on March 28 but will it go ahead and start on time or will it be postponed is something as of now there is no clarity. In the recent updates surrounding the tournament, IPL Governing Council chairman Arun Dhumal said that the league is keeping a close watch on the developing situation of the Middle east war.

Speaking to the New Indian Express, Arun Dhumal said ‘’We are reviewing the development. Since this is an evolving situation nothing can be said as of now. But given the requirement of the situation we will take a call accordingly’’. This statement along with the fact that the IPL schedule announcement has been delayed points to the fact that the tournament might be postponed by a few weeks if the war does not end.

With the IPL set to begin in just a few weeks they will have to take a decision on this because the current situation will affect many other industries as well. Recently the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural gas announced on social media that LPG supply is being prioritized for domestic fuel constraints. So it will be interesting to see how this pans out in the coming weeks.

Most IPL franchises have already begun their preparations for the upcoming edition and have set up camps. However, the travel for overseas players will be another big issue that the IPL has to tackle. Due to the Middle East war the transit point at Dubai is not open so players of different teams have been stranded after the WT20 and will be making their way out in chartered planes now. The West Indies team was the most hit by this as they had to wait for more than a week after getting eliminated. So will the players be able to arrive on time is something that also needs to be looked upon.
