Sunrisers Hyderabad, whose bowling lineup was already on a downside, has been struck with a big blow as seam bowling all-rounder Jack Edwards was ruled out of the IPL 2026 due to a foot injury. The 25-year-old Australian player was signed by SRH for INR 3 crore in the IPL 2026 mini auction. This blow hits more as the captain, Pat Cummins, will not be available in the starting matches of this season.
Jack Edwards, the Australian seam-bowling all-rounder, is ruled out of the IPL 2026. He was the only overseas player bought in the auction, and the SRH had a lot of hopes for the 25-year-old, as their bowling already looks weak compared to their batting.
On top of that, Pat Cummins will miss some matches at the start of the IPL 2026. This makes Edwards blow big for the Sunrisers Hyderabad.
Jack Edwards had been amazing for the Sydney Sixers in the BBL 2025-26 season, where he took 19 wickets and scored a total of 133 runs in 13 matches. He recently made his debut for Australia in the T20Is against Pakistan in January 2026.
SRH’s bowling attack remains a key weakness heading into the 2026 season
SRH’s batting lineup is one of the most dangerous batting lineups in the Tysio IPL 2026, including players like Abhishek Sharma, Travis Head, Ishan Kishan, Heinrich Klaasen, and Liam Livingstone.
However, when it comes to bowling, they appear to have one of the weakest attacks on paper this season. The SRH bowling attack features players like Jaydev Unadkat, Harshal Patel, Harsh Dubey, Pat Cummins, and Jack Edwards. Now that Edwards has ruled out for the whole season and Cummins is unavailable for the start, SRH's bowling is weaker.
SRH will play their first match of the season against Royal Challengers Bangalore on 28 March in Bengaluru, and then they will play Kolkata Knight Riders on 2 April at Eden Gardens, Kolkata. The team will play their game at their home against Lucknow Super Giants on 5 April and will play their 4th match against Punjab Kings on 11 April at New Chandigarh. The rest of the schedule will be out soon.
