Indian batter and Southern Brave's key player, Jemimah Rodrigues has suffered a setback ahead of the remaining The Hundred Tournament and the 2026 Asia Cup as she ends up with a hamstring injury. Southern Brave have emerged as one of the strongest teams in the 2026 edition of The Hundred Women’s competition, making an excellent start to their campaign. Their performances have been built around a well-balanced squad featuring experienced international players and impactful overseas signings. Rodrigues was among the key contributors, producing several important performances during the early stages of the tournament.
She scored 143 runs in six innings at an average of 35.75 and a strike rate of 131.19. The Mumbai batter was particularly influential in consecutive victories, earning Player of the Match honours against Sunrisers and MI London. She remained unbeaten on 42 against Sunrisers to guide Brave to a five-wicket win before scoring 32 off 22 balls against MI London in a one-run victory. However, Southern Brave will now have to continue their campaign without Rodrigues.
The franchise has brought in Australia’s Charli Knott as Rodrigues’ replacement for the remainder of the competition. This was confirmed by the official X handle of Southern Brave. The Brave, who remain firmly in contention for the knockout stages, will now hope Knott can fill the considerable gap left by one of their most consistent batters.
Charli Knott replaces Jemimah Rodrigues after stunning domestic campaign in Australia
Charli Knott has entered the Southern Brave’s squad with a strong case built on her performances in English domestic cricket this summer. The Australian all-rounder was outstanding for Nottinghamshire in the 2026 Charlotte Edwards Cup and Vitality Blast, particularly in the latter competition, where she finished as the tournament’s leading wicket-taker with 27 wickets at an average of 12.18.
She was equally impressive with the bat, scoring 404 runs at an average of 40.40 and a strike rate of 139, making her the competition’s fourth-highest run-scorer. Her all-round performances earned her the Player of the Tournament award, while she also produced an excellent spell of 4 for 15 in the semi-final.
Despite those numbers, Knott was not among Southern Brave’s original selections for The Hundred because the 2026 squads were largely assembled before the domestic season began. The Hundred’s main auction took place in March, while Knott’s outstanding Blast campaign came later, meaning franchises did not have the benefit of her current-season form when making their initial choices.
Southern Brave instead committed to players including Jemimah Rodrigues, Laura Wolvaardt, Maia Bouchier and Lauren Bell, with Rodrigues signed directly for £60,000. Knott therefore gets her opportunity as an injury replacement rather than an original pick, despite arguably entering the competition in exceptional form.
