England wicketkeeper-batter Jos Buttler expressed his admiration for former India skipper Rohit Sharma upon receiving his signed jersey. Buttler, who recently faced Sharma in the three-game ODI series, took to social media and posted a picture of a jersey signed by the Indian batter. Notably, there were rumours that the Lord’s ODI could be the last game for Sharma in India colours. Per reports, the veteran batter was not in scope of selection for the upcoming World Cup 2027, and the selectors had decided to move on from him to Yashasvi Jaiswal. 

However, not only did the rumours turn out to be fake, but Sharma also gave a befitting reply to his critics with a staggering century to become India’s first ODI centurion at Lord’s. The 39-year-old hit 138 runs in 110 deliveries to bridge the gap between the team and the mammoth total posted by Team England. Following the game, Sharma gifted one of his jerseys to Buttler, while sharing a heartfelt message for the Englishman. He wrote, “Dear Jos, loved my time playing against you.” 

The former England skipper took to Instagram to share the picture while thanking the 2024 T20 World Cup winning captain and expressing his admiration. He wrote,”The one opposition players shirt I’ve always wanted, one of my all time favourite players! Will treasure this thank you @rohitsharma45 (Rohit Sharma).

Jos Buttler Scripts History; Becomes 2nd-Highest Run Scorer in T20 Cricket 

Butler, who missed his fifty by 9 runs in the third ODI against England, scripted history in T20 cricket. During the third game of The Hundred 2026 between Manchester Super Giants and London Spirit, Butler delivered a subpar performance. However, even that performance was enough for him to etch his name into the history books. The English veteran scored 16 runs and went on to become the second-highest run-scorer in T20 cricket. He surpassed Chris Gayle to grab the spot and has 14,72 runs to his name. 

Notably, Buttler now only has Kieron Pollard ahead of him, who has a total of 14, 803 runs to his name. Coming back to Butter, he has played 14,572 innings at a strike rate of 146.74 with 102 half centuries and nine tons. The fourth spot on the list is occupied by Alex Hales with 14,449 runs, with David Warner on fifth and Virat Kohli on sixth spots with 14,284 and 14,218 runs, respectively.
