The Lucknow Super Giants opener Josh Inglis was absolutely distraught with his dismissal against Jamie Overton as he couldn’t believe it. The Australian wicketkeeper was dominating the proceedings with ease and innovation as he middled almost every bowl he faced. The Chennai bowling unit couldn’t contain him and even their best pacers couldn’t beat him. Then, Jamie Overton was brought into the attack and Josh Inglish once again attempted the scoop, but this time Sanju Samson took a neat diving catch behind the stumps. Josh Inglis was in disbelief and he even looked into the heavens after the dismissal.

The kind of start that the opening pair of Josh Inglis and Mitchell Marsh provided was the dream start for LSG as it was their highest powerplay score in this edition of the tournament. Josh Inglis took responsibility as he took on the seamers from the first over itself. He played a couple of fine reverse scoops against Mukesh Choudhary and Anshul Kamboj as well. He scored 2 sixes and a four off the same shot and it almost seemed like a cheat code. Jamie Overton got the big wicket with probably the first mistimed shot off the bat from Josh Inglis.

CSK fight back after explosive LSG powerplay as Overton removes Inglis and Pant

The Chennai Super Kings won the toss and they elected to bowl first against the Lucknow Super Giants. The visitors gleefully accepted the decision of the home side as they asserted their control in the power play. Josh Inglis was absolutely outstanding and LSG would have been proud of their decision to send the Aussie to open the innings ahead of Markram. None of the other batters have been able to give him support or even put on a decent total on board and that could significantly affect the final score. They will be hoping that they can set a total above 190 to have the edge over the homeside while defending the total.

Jamie Overton’s over was the game-changing over as that shifted the momentum towards the home side. He started off with the wicket of Josh Inglis and then proceeded to take the wicket of Rishabh Pant. Shortly after, Aiden Markram was run out by Dewald Brevis and LSG faltered in their way. They will have to fight back in the game as quickly as possible as they do not have many recognized batters coming down the order and they would be aiming at a safe score. They have the kind of bowling unit that could work with low scores and possibly create some magic in the second innings.
