After yet another blistering innings from teenage sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi that led Rajasthan Royals to win match number 64 in Jaipur against LSG, a moment from the post-match interview scene stood out. Vaibhav Sooryvanshi was having a post-match interview after his 93 off just 38 balls when LSG head coach and Australia legend Justin Langer interrupted the interview, asking for a photograph. The LSG head coach was even seen labelling the photograph as ‘a treasure photo’.
Justin Langer asked, “Can I get a picture?” Sooryavanshi acknowledged by saying “Yes, sir, please”. The LSG head coach then appreciated the 15-year-old’s skills and said, “I’m going to treasure that photo.” The video went viral on social media as netizens appreciated Vaibhav Sooryvanshi’s attitude towards his seniors and also the fact that even at the age of 15, legends are asking for photographs with him.
Vaibhav Sooryavanshi had already made a name for himself in the cricket fraternity as a fearless batsman at the age of 15. His skills and ability to hit the balls out of the park from ball one look extraterrestrial. In the must-win game against LSG to keep their playoff hopes alive, Viabhav started off slow, being calculative and then accelerated his innings in a 200-plus chase. That showed his game presence and the total opposite of what some cynics think of him, only as a ‘slogger’. From just a hype to a sensation, the 15-year-old has proved himself on the 22 yards.
Justin Langer said it’s a ‘Privilege’ to see Vaibhav Sooryavanshi batting
After the loss against RR, speaking in the post-match conference, Justin Langer proved that he is amongst the many who have turned into Vaiabhav Sooryavanshi fanboy. And we definitely don’t blame him for that. Langer describes his batting display as ‘breathtaking’, and to do it at such a young age is beyond words. He also pointed out that world-class bowlers like Mitchell Starc and Anrich Nortje even looked clueless when bowling to him.
“In all my time, I’ve seen some amazing players in 35 years of cricket. To see a young man bat like that, not just tonight but throughout the series, is breathtaking. It is a privilege to watch him bat. Do you know how I judge it? I think the last game, Mitchell Starc, who’s one of the all-time great white-ball bowlers, is bowling, and you look at the expression on his face. Anrich Nortje is a world-class international bowler, and Sooryavanshi is hitting him. The expression on their face is such that: ‘What is happening here?” he said.
In accordance with his great back-to-back performances, 15-year-old Vaibhav Sooryavanshi got his maiden call for India A. BCCI intends to take the’ Vaibhav project’ seriously, letting him transition smoothly to the senior team and not rushing it out.
