With dust having settled on the recent mega ICC T20 World Cup campaign, the focus of the grand cricketing world has now shifted elsewhere. It’s towards the soon-to-begin Indian Premier League season 2026, which happens to the dominant franchise based white ball league in the cricketing world and one particular ground, famous and widely popular, continues to be the subject of intrigue for so many.

Bengaluru’s Chinnaswamy! And it’s once again in the midst of news.

A Karnataka government-appointed expert committee is set to conduct a detailed inspection of M. Chinnaswamy Stadium on Friday, with a particular focus on match-day operational preparedness and spectator safety protocols. The committee, constituted by the Government of Karnataka, will review a wide range of logistical arrangements at the Bengaluru venue, including crowd management systems, emergency evacuation procedures, entry and exit routes, fire safety compliance, and coordination among stadium authorities, local police, and civic agencies.

As part of the process, officials will also stage a full-scale mock demonstration to simulate match-day conditions, allowing the panel to evaluate how effectively different departments respond during peak crowd movement. The inspection carries significant implications for the city’s hosting rights in the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League.

Fixtures scheduled in Bengaluru for #IPL2026 remain provisional and will only be confirmed once the committee submits a favourable report on the stadium’s readiness.

Authorities are expected to pay particular attention to spectator capacity management, parking logistics, medical response infrastructure, and coordination between the stadium management and law enforcement.

The mock drill will simulate match-day scenarios such as crowd ingress before the game, mid-innings movement in concourses, and post-match dispersal.

It is believed that once the inspections are rendered complete, the committee will compile its findings and submit recommendations to the state government.
