For a team that looked so nervous, inconsistent and perhaps even sluggish right at the start of the tournament, Kolkata Knight Riders have really turned it around in this stage of the IPL. Their consistent and agressive style of play also boldly underlines an important facet of their game. And that’s intent. It almost seems as though they are playing every single contest to win it. Mere participation isn’t their thing! Against the Delhi Capitals last evening, they achieved a fourth consecutive win and this was a great feat. Triggered by a wonderful and opposition rhythm affecting century by Finn Allen, who struck a 47-ball-hundred, the Kolkata Knight Riders really turned on the heat in the scorching month of May.
But there was more to their fantastic victory achieved in game #51 of the Indian Premier League’s 2026 edition!
Apart from the very disciplined bowling and the aggressive and valuable batting partnership as seen between Finn Allen and Cameron Green, a person who does need to be lauded and rightly so is their captain Ajinkya Rahane.
Here’s a man who besides being a great and honourable veteran of the Indian Premier League is a courageous captain and someone who has presided over a particularly rocky phase - one marked by several inconsistent performances right at the start of the season- for his team.
It’s his quiet and diligent captaincy style that has given Kolkata Knight Riders the big great turnaround that they so desperately needed after having lost four to five games right at the start of the season.
And being a man of integrity and reason, he lavished rich praise on two significantly important coaches for his KKR in the game’s aftermath!
After the completion of the contest against the now clearly struggling Delhi Capitals, the Kolkata Knight Riders captain Ajinkya Rahane clearly directed praise and regard where they were due. He shared that he would like to congratulate and credit both Dwayne Bravo and Tim Southee for putting in the hard work that they have so consistently been operating with for their team. And much of KKR’s very respectable turnaround is ultimately down to the way in which the two have conducted themselves.
Both Bravo and Southee bring tremendous experience to a highly skilled unit that is the Kolkata Knight Riders and being decorated champion players who have previously operated in the IPL, they have been able to motivate and guide the youngsters and the rising names in the KKR ranks quite nicely. The change is evident in the way the entirety of the KKR unit has been demonstrating their on field performances. And that’s an absolutely brilliant news for fans of one of the greatest and most seasoned teams that there is!
