Indian batter KL Rahul accidentally hit Sri Lanka’s Nishan Madushka on helmet during the opening Test on Saturday. The Indian team is currently touring the Island Nation for a two-game Test series which kicked off on August 15 at the Galle International Stadium in Galle. The day started with the Indian skipper Shubman Gill winning the toss and opting to put the score on the board first. While the Indian team faced an early setback in the form of Yashasvi Jaiswal’s cheap dismissal, KL Rahul and the rest of the top-middle order took control in their hands.

However, during Rahul’s batting, an injury scare hit the Sri Lankan camp when the Indian batter’s shot ended up hitting Nishan Madushka on his helmet. The incident took place on the final delivery of Prabath Jayasuriya’s over, when the Indian opener went low and played a sweep. While the Sri Lankan, positioned at short leg, spotted the danger and lowered his head, the ball still struck him flush in the centre of his helmet.
