If there’s an Indian cricketer out there, who’s got every possible reason to be angry or sound upset with the way he’s been handled, particularly of lately, then it’s M. Shami. And there’s a reason for that as well. For starters, in the recent 12-14 months he’s worked particularly hard on his fitness and wicket taking skills.
His wicket tally stands at over 450 international wickets for Team India with 195 coming in fifty over one day cricket. And just when he had impressed greatly in his recent first class performances in a bid to mark a significant return to the team’s fold, he’s not been considered.
Shami’s India career, it could be said, seems over.
Mohammed Shami has voiced his frustration over being left out of India’s T20 setup, questioning the lack of clarity around his exclusion despite consistent performances.
🚨 MOHAMMED SHAMI ANGRY ON BCCI & SELECTORS 🚨 Mohammed Shami Said 🗣️ “First of all, even I don’t know why I’m not in the India team. In T20s, my performance has been the best among all Indian bowlers. In the last 6 years, I have taken 120 wickets. Still, apparently I’m not… pic.twitter.com/D46RE7N2qO

The veteran pacer admitted that he does not understand why he isn’t in contention, especially given his record in the format over the years.

Mohammad Shami highlighted that he has picked up close to 120 wickets in T20 cricket across the last five to six years, insisting that his numbers compare favourably with other Indian bowlers.
Despite this, he feels he is still not seen as a strong T20 option, a perception he finds difficult to accept considering his consistency.
The right arm fast bowler added that he regularly reviews his performances and believes he has done enough to earn opportunities at the highest level. While he remains hopeful of a return, Shami made it clear that the continued snub is hard to comprehend, particularly when his record reflects sustained success in the format.
