Star Indian bowler Mohammed Siraj hit a towering six during the first Test against Sri Lanka on Sunday. The Indian team, under the leadership of Shubman Gill, are currently touring the island nation for a two-game Test series. The first of the series, and the Indian team’s 600th as well, kicked off on Saturday, where the Indian batters displayed a remarkable display of batting prowess to post a formidable total of 460 runs with the loss of nine wickets by the end of Day 2. Opener KL Rahul posted 82 runs while Devdutt Padikkal contributed 167 runs on 230 deliveries.

Siraj is known for his six-hitting ways and its testament came during the opening Test between India and Sri Lanka. On the second day of a must-win contest for the Indian team, the Hyderabadi bowler smacked a towering slog-sweep over deep mid-wicket against spinner Keshara Nuwantha. It was Shami’s only fourth six of his nearly 50-Test-long-career. Siraj was playing his fourth ball of the innings, when the Indian bowler crouched to hit a towering six with all his muscle.
India were already batting at 432 with the loss of six at that time, and Siraj came in to bat ahead of Kuldeep Yadav, who can bat for longer periods. Not only this, but earlier during the warm-up game between the two countries, Siraj came up with crucial four sixes, three of which came back-to-back, to help the side seal a six-wicket win.
