The Indian Premier League has witnessed many monumental moments especially with batters batting out of their skin in just one over. Today it was Cooper Connolly and Priyansh Arya who absolutely belted Aiden Markram for 32 runs in an over. The Lucknow Super Giants could just simply stand back and admire the quality of power hitting by the duo. The duo just seemed unstoppable at that point as nothing went wrong for the Punjab Kings.

Even though this was an extraordinary effort from Priyansh Arya and Cooper Connolly, it is still way far off the most expensive over in IPL history. The power-hitting masterclass from the batters could just destroy the morale and reputation of even the top bowlers in the league. Let’s take a look at the most expensive overs in IPL history:

10) Sam Curran & Harpreet Bhatia- Arjun Tendulkar (31 runs)

Arjun Tendulkar was brought in the 16th over of the match and he had to face Sam Curran and Harpreet Bhatia. Sam Curran took on Arjun Tendulkar and smashed 14 runs off the first 3 balls. After a single being taken in the next ball, Harpreet Bhatia also hit Arjun for a six and two fours. There was a no-ball bowled and Arjun Tendulkar ended up giving away 31 runs in the over.

9) Chris Gayle - Rahul Sharma (31 runs)

The young leg-spinner Rahul Sharma was given the ball in the 13th over of the game. Chris Gayle was in the mood for some biggies and he ended up smashing five consecutive sixes off the last 5 balls of the over. Rahul Sharma was left in awe as the Jamaican expressed his muscle power.

8) Marcus Stoinis & Nicholas Pooran - Abhishek Sharma (31 runs)

Abhishek Sharma, the part time bowler, was given an opportunity with the ball and it didn’t end up well for SRH. Marcus Stoinis hit the first one for a 100m six and another six before he gave the strike to his partner. Nicholas Pooran struck a huge 105m six, followed by 2 other sixes.

7) Cooper Connolly and Priyansh Arya- Aiden Markram (32 runs)

Aiden Markram was given a chance with the ball as the duo were carrying out an absolute demolition job. Cooper Connolly smashed a hat-trick of sixes to begin proceedings and then he took a single, after a wide. Priyansh Arya then finished off what Connolly had started, with two maximums. Aiden Markram gave away 32 runs in the over, to bowl the most expensive one of the season so far.

6) Romario Shepherd - Anrich Nortje (32 runs)

Anrich Nortje was entrusted with the duty to finish off the innings and he was bowling to the dangerous Romario Shepherd. The West Indian smashed 4 sixes and 2 fours, to send Anrich Nortje packing for a 32 run over.

5) Chris Gayle & Manoj Tiwary - Ravi Bopara (33 runs)

In the game between the Kings XI Punjab and the Kolkata Knight Riders, Ravi Bopara was smashed for 33 runs in an over. Chris Gayle and Manoj Tiwary took the fight to the bowler as they smashed Bopara for 33 runs in the over.

4) Romario Shepherd - Khaleel Ahmed (33 runs)

RCB was well behind the target they wanted to achieve in that match and the responsibility was shouldered by Romario Shepherd. He smashed Khaleel Ahmed for consecutive sixes and he ended up conceding 33 runs in the over.

3) Pat Cummins - Daniel Sams (35 runs)

KKR required 35 runs to win off the last 30 balls and the Mumbai Indians gave Daniel Sams the ball. Pat Cummins smashed the bowler for 35 runs in the over and he raced to his record-breaking fifty in no time.

Prashanth Parameswaran was brought into the attack by the Cochin Tuskers and Chris Gayle just smashed the bowler around the park for a run. Under pressure he bowled a no ball that also went for six and he ended up giving 37 runs in the over. This remains the joint most expensive over in the IPL.

1)Ravindra Jadeja - Harshal Patel (37 runs)

CSK looked down and out in the contest until the last over of the game by Harshal Patel. He simply couldn’t maintain his length and ended up giving away 37 runs in the last over. That matched turned the game on its head and the CSK won the game.
