
The most searched cricketer of 2025 was a surprise. It was not Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and MS Dhoni. Even established stars such as Rishabh Pant, Abhishek Sharma and Shubman Gill did not make the list despite stellar performances. It was 14 year old sensation from Bihar, Vaibhav Suryavanshi.
Vaibhav Suryavanshi finished 2025 as India’s most-searched cricketer on Google. The 14-year-old left-hander made headlines with his IPL century, big runs in youth cricket, and rapid rise through India U19 and India A matches. He has also been doing well for Bihar in the domestic circuit.
Not many knew his name before IPL Auctions and once he was roped in by the Rajasthan Royals for Rs 1.1 crore he immediately made headlines. He became the youngest player to be picked in the history of IPL. Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s came to spotlight during the IPL when he became the youngest male cricketer to score a T20 century. He was playing for Rajasthan Royals against Gujarat Titans, he smashed 101 runs off just 38 balls, featuring seven boundaries and 11 sixes.
That knock made him a sensation overnight. He reached his hundred in 35 deliveries, the second-fastest in IPL history and the fastest by an Indian. He continued his great form scoring 252 runs in seven matches and showed great class. Vaibhav Suryavanshi then continued his good form in the ACC Emerging Asia Cup 2025 where he hammered a 32-ball century against the UAE, hitting the boundary 26 times. The knock of 144 off 42 balls included 11 boundaries and 15 sixes and was spoken about by many fans as clips went viral on social media.
In this season, Playing for Bihar, he smashed a 58-ball unbeaten 108 against Maharashtra, becoming the youngest player in tournament history to score a century. He then made his mark in the Vijay Hazare smashing a century of just 36 balls. He has centuries in all the formats he has played in his young career. He scored 190 against Arunachal Pradesh and showcased his class. 2025 has been the year which has truly belonged to this 14 year old, and Vaibhav Suryavanshi finished the year as the Most Searched Cricketer of 2025 ahead of some of the biggest names.
