For someone who bats with a sense of class and full commitment to his artsy style of batting- which is what he is primarily known for- KL Rahul has emerged as a distinguished scorer in this edition of the Indian Premier League where the 2026 edition is concerned. He’s right up there with the most elegant and powerful stroke makers in the modern conception of the IPL and his numbers from the current season underline a clear fact. And it’s that he’s not too far behind where runs scored are concerned when it comes to the likes of Abhishek Sharma, Virat Kohli and Vaibhav Suryavanshi, three of the most renowned run makers in IPL (at present). Not only did Rahul score a whirlwind and scintillating unbeaten 152 just a little over a week ago and that too, against the Punjab Kings but in so doing, struck his 6th overall IPL century.

What’s more?

He would also strike a 75 run promising knock not too long after his heroical century against Punjab but in so doing reminded one of the powers of being consistent. That’s something that every top order batter must bring to game and someone like KL Rahul has done so for Delhi nearly all season long up to this point.

That said, what’s KL’s mindset at the moment?

It is a known fact that Rahul likes to combine a sense of elegance to a subtle touch of power in the way he goes about gathering his runs and he does so, rather beautifully from the top of the order.

Which is why the statement issued by KL Rahul ahead of the game against the Chennai SuperKings is catchy and sincere

“My focus is on maximising the PowerPlay, that’s the demand of T20 cricket,” said KL Rahul of the Delhi Capitals.

Not only is this quote indicative of the fact that here is someone who likes to lead by an example - as Rahul has 433 runs at a strike rate of 185- it also shows the sense of responsibility with which the elegant right hander bats in the middle.

And that tactic is also the right way to think, isn’t it?

If your team’s best batter operates at the very top of the order and has the right approach to gather runs as many as possible from the powerplay, something he’s been doing to much perfection, then the ideal batting task in a T20 format is well covered, isn’t it?

All one can say is that with the end goal of consistently scoring and helping his Delhi side finish off the season on a high and in a much better fashion than in which they’ve let some games simply slip away from them, KL Rahul is here in the right frame of mind and his heart is there for Delhi’s cause.
