A kid asked Chennai Super Kings’ all-rounder Jamie Overton about the on-field scuffle between him and Mumbai Indians batter Tilak Varma, and the England star didn’t wait before putting his skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad into the spotlight. Notably, on the April 23 game between CSK and Mumbai Indians at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, Varma and Overton engaged in a heated argument on the field. In the tenth over, Tilak nudged an Overton delivery to mid-wicket and looked for a second.

However, he was sent back by Suryakumar Yadav. While the MI batter was returning, he swerved past Overton, which triggered a heated exchange between the two. However, things didn’t escalate as Suryakumar Yadav and umpires stepped in and calmed them down. Both players were later seen embracing during the post-match handshakes, suggesting that things ended well between them.

Young fan asks Overton about scuffle with Tilak Varma, Englishman redirects to Ruturaj Gaikwad

In a recent CSK event, Overton was asked by a young fan about the incident that unfolded between him and Varma. However, the all-rounder was quick to put skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad on the podium. “No, no, no. Maybe you should ask Rutu because he was the one causing it. On the previous ball,” Overton told the fan. Gaikwad then revealed that he was hit a four by the MI batter on the previous ball and he then told Overton to go back home and not play in the IPL.

This ended up leaving the 32-year-old furious and led to an argument between him and Varma. "Tilak hit him for four, so I told him, ‘You are bowling very badly. You shouldn’t be here, you should go home.’ That made him angry, and he said a few good words to Tilak, and then they started fighting. As he is from England, he says a lot of good words," Gaikwad told the fan. The CSK skipper’s reaction went viral and left everyone in splits.

Notably, Overton has been a key player this IPL season for the otherwise injury-riddled CSK team. In eight games, he has played 10 wickets for the Yellow Army. The five-time champions will now be up against Delhi Capitals on May 5 in New Delhi.
