Mumbai Indians batter Tilak Varma and Chennai Super Kings’ Jamie Overton engaged in an on-field scuffle. The incident took place during the 33rd game of the IPL 2026 as both five-time IPL champions locked horns with each other at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. Batting first, the Chennai Super Kings put up a total of 207 runs, owing to a blistering century by Sanju Samson. While the Indians looked to make a comeback in the second innings, the Super Kings had different plans.

Chennai Super Kings bowlers wreaked havoc with their bowling prowess and dismantled the entire MI lineup to wrap up their innings at 104 runs. While the hosts endured another embarrassing defeat, a heated moment became talk of the talk in no time. During Mumbai’s innings, Tilak Varma and Jamie Overton engaged in a heated argument.

The incident took place after the last ball of the 10th over, while Varma was thinking of running for a two. The CSK bowler and MI batter exchanged some words, while Suryakumar Yadav also got involved. However, things didn’t escalate as the umpire intervened and sent Overton away. The video, though, went viral on social media in no time.

Mumbai Indians suffer fifth loss of IPL 2026 season

As Chennai Super Kings recorded a 103-run win over their age-old rivals, the Mumbai Indians fell to 2-5 in the current season. Indians skipper Hardik Pandya reflected on the loss and said, I think even our spinners bowled pretty well. It’s just that Sanju played an outstanding knock. At the same point of time, their batters kept coming and kind of chipping in and got them to a decent total. I think more than a decent total on that track.”

He added, “I think that will be the chat where we will go back to again, go forward and figure out what we need to do. We have a couple of days. We just need to see what we can do best.”
