The early drama at the Narendra Modi Stadium has seen Nishant Sindhu make an immediate impact on his IPL debut for Gujarat Titans. His catch to dismiss Priyansh Arya was the culmination of a high-stakes first over that set a tense tone for the Punjab Kings' innings. The opening over, bowled by Mohammed Siraj, was a masterclass in persistent short-pitched bowling that eventually broke Arya's concentration. Siraj started with a sharp short ball. Arya attempted a pull but got a massive top edge. Jos Buttler ran back from behind the stumps and put in a desperate dive, but the ball landed just out of his reach. Siraj didn't deviate from the plan, sending another short-of-a-length delivery wide outside off. Arya went for a flat-batted slash but sliced it toward deep third.

Nishant Sindhu, making his IPL debut today, showed no nerves. He scampered to his left and executed a perfect sliding catch to send Arya back for just 2 runs. Priyansh Arya entered the match in red-hot form after a breathtaking 103 off 42 balls earlier this season, his early exit is a massive blow for Punjab.

Mohammad Siraj dismisses Cooper Connolly in same over

New man Cooper Connolly was greeted with a beautiful, hard-length delivery that angled across before nipping back late. Connolly, caught flat-footed, jabbed at it with hard hands and got a thin inside edge to the keeper. Although he reviewed it, "UltraEdge" confirmed the spike, sending him back for a golden duck. This twin strike completely derailed the Punjab Kings' (PBKS) aggressive top order within just three deliveries. Following Mohammed Siraj’s explosive two-wicket opening over, Shreyas Iyer and Prabhsimran Singh are currently steadying the ship for the Punjab Kings. As of the end of the third over, they have taken PBKS to 23/2, focusing on rotating the strike while finding occasional boundaries. The pair has been proactive with running, turning dots into singles to keep the scoreboard moving at roughly 7.00 runs per over against the testing spells of Siraj and Kagiso Rabada.
