On this day, May 11, 2024: Kolkata Knight Riders beat Mumbai Indians in a low scoring thriller. It was the 60th match of the Indian Premier League 2026 between KKR and MI. The game was interrupted by rain and reduced to a 16 over contest. Kolkata Knight Riders were batting first and lost the wicket of Phil Salt in the first over. Sunil Narine departed for a duck in the next over as Kolkata Knight Riders were in early trouble at 10/2 in the second over.

Venkatesh Iyer and Shreyas Iyer stitched a partnership and had a few good overs but Shreyas was dismissed for seven as KKR had lost their third wicket in the powerplay. Nitish Rana came in with a positive intent and scored 33 runs while Venkatesh played brilliantly for his 42 runs off 21 balls. Kolkata Knight Riders got the perfect finish as they made 157/7 at the end of the first innings. It was a good surface for batting and the game was in the balance at the halfway mark.

Chasing the target, Mumbai Indians got a perfect start as Ishan Kishan went all guns blazing and along with Rohit put up a 65 run partnership for the opening wicket. Rohit Sharma struggled at the other end and was dismissed for 19 runs from 24 balls while Kishan lost his wicket for 40 from 22 balls. Kolkata Knight Riders pulled things back brilliantly in the middle overs.

Kolkata Knight Riders spinners were excellent in the middle overs as Mumbai Indians kept losing wickets and were reduced to 117/6. Tilak Varma and Naman Dhir put up a partnership to bring them back in the game but Andre Russell was excellent in the death overs as Mumbai Indians were restricted to 139/8 at the end of the match and Kolkata Knight Riders pulled off a brilliant win.
