Mohammad Amir has found his name making rounds across news publications and social media following his statement ahead of India’s final Super 8 game against West Indies. Amir claimed that Pakistan might not qualify, but India will also not qualify for the semi-final.
Amir has been among the news all throughout the competition for his ‘big talks’ on new panels and shows. He has labelled Abhishek Sharma to be a ‘slogger’ ahead of India’s game against Pakistan following which he received a lot of criticism from Indian fans and experts.
The former pacer has again attracted a lot of media attention from both sides of the border by predicting India’s fate at the T20 World Cup. He made a bold prediction that India will not reach the semi-final. “Pakistan will qualify. Dekho, Pakistan kare na kare, India naaaa (It doesn't matter if Pakistan qualifies or not, India will not),” said Amir on YouTube channel named ‘Haarna Mana Hai’.

Mohammad Amir has repeatedly tried to sabotage India’s reputation with his words off the pitch. He has consistently made comments about how India will fail in qualifying for the Super 8 and then the semi-final and how there are better teams than the Men in Blue. But, India has fought back and silenced him every time.

Former India all-rounder Harbhajan Singh had called out Amir for his provocative statements and said, “Come on, what am I supposed to say to that? He just gets up and says anything. If you call him a slogger, fine, let him smash sixes, but he’s a proper batter who has every shot in the book. If I start naming real sloggers, some people might get offended, but I don’t want to create more drama. Calling anyone just a slogger isn’t fair. Abhishek is a top-class batter who has already proven himself in world cricket,”
