The Punjab Kings opener Prabhsimran Singh has brought up his fifth half-century of the season and it is his second of the season against the Mumbai Indians. He has been in fabulous touch in the season and a key player in their top order. He wasn’t explosive right from the first ball like we have seen him usually in this edition of the IPL; rather, he was a lot more composed with his shot selection. Prabhsimran Singh will be happy about his knock as it was a much needed knock as the runs weren’t flowing as smoothly as they would have liked.
Prabhsimran Singh wasn’t exactly hunting the bowlers from the initial overs as he was playing according to the merit of the bowler. He was just 29 off 22 balls until the end of the 9th over and with the over of Raghu Sharma, he decided to shift gears. He hit the spinner for two consecutive sixes and it felt like he had entered his usual groove. In the next over of Corbin Bosch, he smashed the bowler for a six and then he brought up his half-century off just 29 balls. He was later dismissed by Shardul Thakur, for a score of 57 off 32 balls.

Shardul Thakur pull Mumbai Indians back into the contest while Punjab Kings eye a strong finish
The Mumbai Indians skipper Jasprit Bumrah won the toss and elected to bowl first against the Punjab Kings. Prabhsimran Singh and Priyansh Arya were off to a decent start in the power play as they put up 50-runs for the opening partnership. Deepak Chahar was the bowler who drew first blood and he was absolutely elated with the wicket of Priyansh Arya. Shardul Thakur did a brilliant job to get rid of both the dangerous Prabhsimran Singh and the skipper Shreyas Iyer. The Punjab Kings have lost half their side for 123 runs and they still do have more than 6 overs to face.
The Punjab Kings will be aiming nothing short of 190 or the 200-run mark at their home ground. They still do have some firepower to come in their batting unit and they will be hopeful of an explosive finish. Maro Jansen and Azmatullah Omarzai will have a huge role to carry out in the innings as they cannot afford to lose this one as well. The Mumbai Indians on the other hand, don’t have anything to fight for except their pride.
