Indian Olympic medallist PV Sindhu lauded star cricketer Virat Kohli and called him her brother. Sindhu also revealed how the former Indian skipper has always pushed her out of the slump, and motivated her to do better. Sindhu was talking to Mayanti Langer for the Royal Challengers Bengaluru podcast, where she spoke about the influence of Kohli on her career. This wasn’t the first time that the legendary shuttler has openly discussed the kind of motivation that the iconic cricketer has given her.
Sindhu told Langer, “Virat is like my brother.” She added, "I remember when I was at my lowest you know I think I met him & I said you know nothing is happening. He just said that just show up, it is okay, just go out there and just show up.”
“He asked me to show up, anywhere and for anything, and just play my game. What would happen? You are not going to lose anything, you know what you are, how you have trained and show the world who you are. So I think it hit me and I think that conversation completely changed my perspective,” Sindhu further said.
PV Sindhu Reveals Sharing Achievements with Virat Kohli
The 31-year-old further revealed that the two athletes keep in touch and she shares her achievements with the cricketing star. “Whenever I win, I just share my happiness saying that you know I have won this or that and recently I met him so it is always so good to meet you know a person who has achieved so much and to get few of those inputs from him, the way he thinks whenever he goes out there, looking at him how he shows up and how he plays and what he is, I think hats off to him for whatever he has done,” Sindhu asserted.
Notably, the star shuttler is currently participating in the BWF World Championships 2026 in Delhi. In the opening round of women’s singles, she clashed against Ireland’s Sophia Noble in the Round of 64 and secured a 21-7, 21-11 win over her counterpart to advance ahead in the tournament.
