Yashasvi Jaiswal tricked Sri Lanka’s Niroshan Dickwella into losing his wicket by rage-baiting the cricketer with a cheeky banter. On Day 5 of the Test against Sri Lanka at the Galle International Stadium, the Indian opener rage-baited the rival wicketkeeper-batter into throwing away his wicket, which ultimately took away the hosts chances of putting up a strong display against the visitors. Jaiswal and Dickwella were seen exchanging a few words before the latter was caught behind off Prasidh Krishna.

On the last ball of the 60th over, Krishna delivered back of a length just outside leg, and the left-hander threw his bat at the ball away from his body, only to get an outside edge. Rishabh Pant made no mistake and collected the ball, sending Dickwella at 10 in 17 deliveries, who had scored 80 in the previous innings. Later, the stump mic audio revealed that the Indian opener had challenged the veteran to hit some sixes. The video revealed that the Indian opener exchanged a few words with the Sri Lankan.

Stump Mic Audio Reveals Conversation Between Jaiswal and Dickwella in the Build Up to Latter’s Dismissal

Later, the stump mic audio revealed the conversation between the Indian opener and the Sri Lankan veteran. Jaiswal was standing at square leg when he told Dickwella, “Come on yaar, there was a lot of shots in first innings. We need to see something, come on.” When Dickwella asked what he was saying, the 24-year-old said, “Yes, I want to see. Come on, show me. Hit him there (pointing towards deep square leg), come on. Why not?”

The 33-year-old replied by saying, “No requirement. Take me (to) IPL, then I'll hit,” which prompted the Indian batter to reply with, “We will, we will. 100%. Come on, hit him a six , I'll take you to the IPL.” Notably, the Sri Lankan was dismissed right on the next ball and the Indian team went up to Jaiswal, underlining the role of the youngster in the build-up of this wicket. The Indian team went on to win the game by 165 runs.
