RCB’s dominant start faces first big test against in-form Rajasthan Royals

The Royal Challengers Bengaluru were all set to play their first game of the season away from home. They exhibited some fine performances in the season so far as they dominated the first two games against the Sunrisers Hyderabad and the Chennai Super Kings. The first game was dominated by Jacob Duffy as he dismissed 3 of the dangerous Sunrisers batters in the powerplay itself. Then in the run chase, Devdutt Padikkal just flicked a different switch and he got to a quickfire half-century. Virat Kohli anchored the innings with Padikkal and changed the gears after his dismissal. Then in the next game against the Chennai Super Kings, the RCB batters were too slow to get off the blocks but Devdutt Padikkal, Rajat Patidar and Tim David just played on a different pitch. Tim David stole the spotlight with a splendid 70 off 25 balls and won the player of the match award.

They haven’t had a weakness to spot in the games so far as they have excelled in all departments even without Josh Hazlewood. Jacob Duffy filled in his shoes quite well with some splendid spells in the powerplay. RCB’s batting depth is yet to be used as Romario Shepherd hasn’t even walked out to bat. The form of Krunal Pandya and Suyash Sharma are huge positives as they are able to bowl economically and chip away with wickets as well. It will be interesting to see how far they can go in the tournament with such a balanced side and to stop them, it seems like a bit of a task.

The first real test of the season of the Royal Challengers Bengaluru will be against the Rajasthan Royals tonight. They have been unbeaten in the season so far and they will be against an in-form RCB side. It will be the clash of the heavyweights at the Barsapara Stadium in Guwahati.
