For quite some time now, there was a pending matter that needed to be resolved on the subject of the famous Bengaluru-based Chinnaswamy stadium with regards to the Karnataka state government. This was in lines with the clearance that was to have been officially obtained with regard to hosting IPL matches in the brand new 2026 season.
Finally, days after the inquiry and the due procedures that have been followed, there’s clarity on the pending matter.
So here is what the doting cricket fan needs to know:
The Karnataka State Cricket Association has received a major boost ahead of the upcoming Indian Premier League season, after the Karnataka government granted formal approval for matches to be held at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium. The decision came after a meeting involving representatives from KSCA, Royal Challengers Bengaluru and event management firm DNA Networks. The approval brings relief to the association after minor delays in completing certain works at the venue. Earlier, an expert committee led by G M Maheshwar Rao, chief commissioner of the Greater Bengaluru Authority, conducted a detailed inspection of the stadium. The panel included senior officials from various local authorities who reviewed infrastructure readiness, safety measures and operational arrangements.
KSCA thanked Maheshwar Rao for leading the inspection process and also expressed appreciation to Sreemant Kumar Singh for coordinating security and safety evaluations.
