Few days ago, Liam Livingstone accused the England management of not having clear communication with players and hinting that his return to team will expend upon the change in management.
Now Reece Topley who last played for the England side in November 2024, has too opened his mouth against the management and gone few steps ahead to criticize the system supporting Livingstone. He even called the team manager incompetent, criticising them left and right.
Speaking to The Cricketer magazine, Topley said: “I think Liam Livingstone has been a bit kind with his views on the England management; shall we leave it like that? But I’m not surprised by what he said. The communication hasn’t been great for me either. But when you appoint a manager who has experience in management, what do you expect?”
The England and Wales Cricket Board Director of Cricket, Rob Key, tried to do a bit of damage control for their image saying Liam Livingstone is very much in their plans this year.
England cricket had few changes in captaincy too with Harry Brook taking the skipper role from Buttler and Brandon McCullum becoming head coach of all formats. Livingstone is currently playing with Sunrisers Hyderabad in IPL 2026 where as Reece Topley will be playing county championship with Surrey County Club.
In last 4 years, Topley has been a part of three World Cup squads (two T20 and one ODI), played in, among other things, the Indian Premier League, the SA20, The Hundred, the Bangladesh Premier League and the Big Bash.
"I'm available for the summer," he tells The Cricketer. "It's really exciting. It's the first time in many years I've not been away with England or at the IPL, and life is pretty simple. I'm enjoying being at Surrey with some good friends, and I'm in the mix going into the season."
He recently missed out PSL and Hundred auctions, must be relieved to go back to Surrey where he started in 2011.
