There are promising teams in the Indian Premier League. There are masterful outfits in the IPL and then there is a team known as the Delhi Capitals. Here is an outfit that tends to unearth several emotions, right? Feelings that many of you would say are not always on the positive side of things or have much to do with something called “triumphant”. If anything, the Delhi Capitals have once again been a team that leaves a lot to be desired and have looked good in parts but also somewhere hugely underwhelming for the most part of it. They have, once again, been the nadir of crushing their fans’ expectations having lost 5 games already and won just 4. And yet, at the same time; they have no one else but themselves to blame for the lost chances, the half hearted attempts to succeed, all of which led them to the Seventh spot of the IPL 2026 rankings that finds him with a highly unlikely chance to progress up ahead.
So what lies ahead now?
Statistically speaking, even if Delhi Capitals end up winning each and every game that lies up ahead, their’s a very slim chance to progress to the business end of the tournament in this 2026 edition. That’s down to the simple reason that the other teams have a much better Net Run Rate than them in comparison.
As it turns out there has been a strict warning issued to players by Munaf Patel
Now whether or not Munaf Patel as Delhi’s head coach has worked out or not insofar is not even a matter to be debated at the moment.
For something else utterly important is making news at this point of time.
And it’s the simple issuance of a what turns out to be a stern warning issued by the Gujarat born former Indian Cricketer to each and every Delhi Capitals player.
And why is that the case?
That’s down to the simple reason that up ahead is their game against the Chennai SuperKings. They thrashed Mumbai at Mumbai most recently and are perhaps peaking at the right time. Quite like the KKR unit, they may not be able to make it to the next decisive round but would certainly like to go out in style.
Where does that leave the Delhi Capitals They have to win every single game that lies ahead of them. And what’s rather interesting at this point of time is the statement issued by coach Munaf Patel. Their last game saw Delhi thrash Rajathan in a contest in which they overcame RR’s 225 runs inside the 20th over. Winning the contest with 5 balls in spare. Despite that thumping win in which they beat a top ranked team such as Rajasthan, clearly, Delhi have made life difficult for them. Had they taken the initiative to go over the ropes in a few contests that went begging, they would not have been in the dire situation in which they currently find themselves. Picture the humongous total of 264, despite of which they ended up on the losing side to Punjab (PBKS).
