Lucknow Super Giants wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant dropped a sitter to give Prabhsimran Singh a lifeline in a crucial LSG vs PBKS clash. Both sides locked horns in a do-or-die clash for the Kings on Saturday, May 23, at Ekana Stadium in Lucknow. The game saw visiting skipper Shreyas Iyer win the toss and invite the rivals to put the score on the board first. The Super Giants rode on Josh Inglis’ 72 runs off 44 deliveries and Ayush Badoni’s 43 runs off 18 deliveries to put up a total of 196 runs with the loss of six wickets.
In return, the Kings got off to a horrific start and lost their two key wickets within three overs. Priyansh Arya went back to the hut off his second consecutive duck while Cooper Connolly could manage to score only 18 runs before falling prey to Mohammed Shami. However, Prabhsimran Singh and Shreyas Iyer seemed to have held the team in times of need. The home side had a golden chance to restrict Singh to just 20 runs but skipper and wicketkeeper Pant dropped an absolute sitter to give him another chance.
Rishabh Pant’s drop gives lifeline to Prabhsimran Singh
On the fourth ball of the seventh over, Arjun Tendulkar delivered a short ball around leg, and Prabhsimran Singh took it on to push the ball. The ball lobbed off the glove to the left of Pant and while he leapt across and got both the gloves on it, the ball slipped out of it. Tendulkar and other LSG players were left disappointed with Pant’s lack of effort. Needless to say, the missed opportunity proved costly to LSG, as Prabhsimran posted 42* runs off 23 balls as of writing.
Earlier during batting, Pant once again failed to put up a notable knock and managed to post only 26 runs off 22 balls. He hit three boundaries and was dismissed off a Yuzvendra Chahal delivery after being caught out by Marco Jansen.
