18-year-old Rocky Flintoff announced himself at Taunton with a spectacular century. He came to the crease with Lancashire in a spot of bother at 138 for three and scored a sensational first professional century for Lancashire in the Metro Bank One-Day Cup against Somerset. He smashed 123 runs from just 76 balls, laced with 10 fours and seven sixes, helping his side post a club-record List A total of 443 for six. Rocky Flintoff is the son of England legend Andrew. . He reached his fifty in 37 balls with four boundaries and two sixes, then shifted through the gears. The second fifty came even quicker in just 28 balls as he brought up a 65-ball century with a single off Josh Shaw.

The power was excellent in this knock with heaves over mid-wicket and straight sixes down the ground carried a touch of his father’s famous aggression. Lancashire’s total became the third-highest in English domestic 50-over cricket and their highest ever in List A history. Flintoff eventually was dismissed for 123, caught in the deep off Migael Pretorius by Archie Vaughan. At 18 years and 126 days old, he became Lancashire’s youngest first-team centurion, breaking a record that had stood since 1890 when Archie MacLaren scored 106 at the age of 18 years and 256 days. Rocky made his Lancashire debut aged 16 years and 113 days in 2024, becoming the county’s youngest player. He had already set records as England Under-19s’ youngest centurion and later as the youngest to score a hundred for the England Lions.

He recently got a two-year contract extension with Lancashire and solid form in the One-Day Cup including an unbeaten 61 earlier in the competition. His older brother Corey is also a professional player for Kent. Just days earlier, Andrew Flintoff had stepped down as England Lions coach. On the same ground where fathers once watched their sons take the next step, the next generation of the Flintoff line made a statement of its own. Lancashire are sitting third in Group A heading into the final round of group matches and are well placed for the knockout stages.
