On the whole, Suryakumar Yadav and Rohit Sharma have played Cricket, a game they beautified with amazing innovation in stroke making, for at least, ten years, if not more. Their first proper connection as teammates in the sport was at the famed Mumbai Indians, a five time mega IPL winning franchise and an exceedingly competitive outfit that’s further heightened the status of the Indian Premier League in the annals of the game. It’s a team for which together Rohit and Suryakumar Yadav have time and again stitched valuable partnerships, revived fledgling innings from the brink of collapse and given new hope to the fighting firehouse of a cricket team that the Mumbai Indians are.

Furthermore, their camaraderie, bonding and understanding with which other further blossomed when in 2021, Suryakumar Yadav made his debut and Rohit Sharma was already a stalwart in the Indian national men’s senior cricket.  

By that experience count, they played the game for nearly a decade whilst wearing an Indian jersey and while the great Hitman of world cricket still continues undeterred perhaps now aiming for a bright spot in next year’s 2027 men’s ODI World Cup, Suryakumar Yadav is largely a former cricketer.

But if one thinks about it, their great camaraderie could also be down to the fact that they both hail from the same region, which is Mumbai. Both are uncomplicated and easy going cricketers and share a mutual admiration for one other. And most importantly their batting is in somewhat similar vein- on the agressive and forward looking mode.

And where the dashing Suryakumar Yadav, the former right handed batting captain of India’s T20 2026 World Cup winning side is concerned then he was recently all praise for Rohit Sharma. And he lavished effusive admiration for his former T20 captain as that was the dominant format in which he played under the “Hitman’s” captaincy.

For a majority of fans out there who consider Rohit as a pillar of Indian batting, especially in white ball cricket, it’s hard to see how anyone can disagree with Surya’s assessment of his former skipper.
