Krunal Pandya could be in line for a return to the Indian T20I setup, with the experienced all-rounder reportedly being discussed after Axar Patel’s recent struggles.
Axar has been an important part of India’s white-ball plans over the past few years, particularly in T20Is, where his ability to contribute with both bat and ball has provided the team with valuable balance. However, his performances during the recent England and Ireland series have raised questions over his place in the side.
With India looking at their options ahead of the upcoming T20I assignments, Krunal’s name has reportedly come into consideration once again.
The left-arm spinner has been away from international cricket for several years, but he has continued to make his presence felt in the domestic circuit and the IPL. His experience, combined with his ability to bowl economically and contribute useful runs down the order, makes him an interesting option for India.
Krunal has previously represented India in T20Is and was once viewed as a regular option in the limited-overs setup. A comeback at this stage of his career would therefore represent a major turnaround for the all-rounder.
