Defending champions RCB retained 17 players and entered the auction with a budget of Rs 16.40 crore. They brought eight players in the Mini Auction with Venkatesh Iyer being the highest bid for 7 Crore. They also picked Mangesh Yadav who is a left arm pacer for 5.2 Crore. He can also be handy with the bat lower down the order, Mangesh Yadav plays for Madhya Pradesh in the domestic circuit under the leadership of Rajat Patidar who is also the RCB captain. Satvik Desai was a net bowler for RCB last season and had impressed them, he gets an IPL deal.
They have a solid squad from the previous season and have done a good job of securing some good backups. Jacob Duffy will be the backup of Josh Hazlewood. While Venkatest Iyer and Devdutt Padikkal will fight it out for 1 spot. Jordan Cox is another good buy at 75 Lakh. The wicket-keeper batter from England has done well in the T20 leagues. Kanishk Chouhan and Vihaan Malhotra are promising young Indian Under 19 players who have a bright future. Overall RCB have done a pretty good job in the auction and covered most of their areas.
