It seems that Indian team's injury vows aren't going away anytime soon. Just when the side was navigating its way without Jasprit Bumrah following his persistent knee discomfort, they received another blow, this time in the form of Sai Sudharsan. As per reports, Sudharsan has been ruled out of the Sri Lanka series due to stress in his right foot. The left-hander is currently undergoing rehabilitation at the BCCI CoE, and is on course to regain full fitness.
He was expected to fly to Sri Lanka by Saturday, and link up with the rest of the team before the first Test, which kicks off on August 15. However, per the latest developments, he is still feeling discomfort in right foot. In addition to it, journalist Abhishek Tripathi has reported that the batter made good progress in his recovery and was able to bat for 75 minutes in the net and completed his conditioning training with a 24km/h run.
However, he is still feeling pain in the toe of his affected foot, and variations have been observed in the duration of the persisting pain following his skill practice or running. Tripathi further stated, “For this reason, the NCA wants to further assess his response before declaring him fully fit.” Further decisions on his recovery would be taken after two days of batting, running and fielding sessions on the basis of an MRI scan.
