India were invited to bat first against England in the second semi-final of the 2026 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup. Sanju Samson got India to flying start in the powerplay while averaging a little more than eleven runs per over as India racked 67/1 at the end of six overs. Samson took off from where he left in the last game against the West Indies.
He looked in fine touch and everything he touched turned into gold. Samson was hitting almost every ball towards the boundary and pushed the England bowlers on the back foot in the process. India took a major hit with the early departure of Abhishek Sharma, but Sanju Samson and Ishan Kishan did not let England take advantage of it.
During the third over, Sanju Samson hit a look off Jofra Archer and made his intentions very clear to the Three Lions. Samson was dropped on the second ball of the same over by skipper Harry Brook and he capitalised on his lifeline in the most aggressive way. It was a short length ball by Archer and Samson made no mistake in dispatching it out of the ground.
The ball got lost in the night sky and went all the way to Sachin Tendulkar stand at the Wankhede Stadium. Samson picked up the length in no time and smashed a picture perfect shot into the stands. It was a humungous six that forced the fans and entire Indian dugout to stand up and appreciate Sanju’s shot.
He used his string pull shot to put it over deep midwicket for a huge 88m six. The sound of the bat felt like therapy for the ears. Samson is enjoying his cricket to the fullest and is attacking bowlers without any mercy. He has recorded another half century at the time of writing as India look to put together a huge total for England to chase.
