It wouldn't be wrong to say that India was thrashed or I would say demolished by South Africa at the Narendra Modi Stadiun in Ahmedabad. Batting first, South Africa lost three wickets quickly, however, right after that David Miller and Dewals Brevis held their nerves and eventually got the Proteas to a commanding total of 187 runs. In reply, Indian batters never really found their feet and the wickets kept tumbling. In the end, India lost the game by 76 runs, putting themselves in a spot of bother.
The talking point for India since the start of the tournament has been their batting and the strike rate that the batters have been maintaining. Though India won all their matches at the Group Stages, but except for the game against Pakistan - none of the matches were won convincingly. Interestingly, all other teams in the tournament were associate nations with United States of America, Namibia, and Netherlands being those three teams.
Moreover, the Indian opening conundrum is also hurting the Indian team. Abhishek Sharma hasn't really been able to find his feat in the tournament thus far. Whereas Ishan Kishan has also lost the touch from last couple of matches. With Sanju Samson sitting on the sidelines, and him also struggling to score runs - the team management hasn't really been able to take a strong decision to play Sanju Samson ahead of Abhishek Sharma.
Here's the tweet

However, after the defeat against South Africa, the assistant coach of team India confirmed that Sanju Samson will be a talking point. In the post match press conference, when it was asked about the opening conundrum, he said, "Sanju Samson will be talking point in next few days."
It will be interesting to see if Sanju Samson gets a game as India plays against Zimbabwe in their next Super 8 clash - which eventually is a decider match for their semi final spot.
