Shivam Dube once again showcased why he’s considered one of India’s standout white-ball all-rounders with a game-changing performance against Ireland in the second T20I in Belfast. The 33-year-old, celebrated for his explosive batting and handy medium-fast bowling, flipped the match on its head by taking two crucial wickets in the 15th over. Just when Ireland seemed poised to set a hefty total, Dube struck down Benjamin Calitz and Gareth Delany with back-to-back deliveries, halting their momentum. His pivotal breakthroughs came after a shaky start to the over and completely shifted the course of the innings. Dismissing Calitz, who was spearheading Ireland's attack, turned out to be the game-changing moment.

Before Dube's intervention, Ireland appeared to be cruising towards a solid finish at 112/3. However, his double strike quickly brought them down to 113/5 in just two balls, forcing the hosts to regroup. The scoring slowed down, especially after a brief rain delay, and Ireland ultimately wrapped up their innings at 154/8. Dube ended with impressive figures of 2 wickets for 25 runs in three overs, maintaining an economy rate of 8.33 and delivering timely breakthroughs for India.

India Restricts Ireland to 154/8 Despite Batting Heroics from Ireland Batters

India made a smart move when captain Shreyas Iyer won the toss and opted to bowl first. The decision was swayed by the weather forecast, which hinted at rain potentially impacting the match, making a chase a strategic choice for a possible DLS advantage. With a determination to level the two-match series after a 34-run loss in the first game, India was ready to make a statement.

Ireland started off cautiously, reaching 38/2 by the end of the fifth over, thanks to some disciplined bowling from the Indian side. Harry Tector, playing in his 100th T20I, anchored the innings with a solid 53 off 47 balls, while Benjamin Calitz brought the energy with a brisk 37 from just 23 balls, featuring three fours and two sixes at a strike rate of 160.87. Together, they put on a valuable 65-run partnership for the fourth wicket before Dube broke it with a key wicket.

India's bowlers bounced back impressively after their previous match. Prince Yadav shone on his debut, taking 3 wickets for just 22 runs in four overs, including the important scalp of Ireland's captain, Lorcan Tucker. Debutant Suryansh Shedge had a tougher time, giving away 25 runs in two wicketless overs. Arshdeep Singh chipped in with 2/35, while Harshit Rana was economical with 1/17, and Axar Patel wrapped up his four overs with 0/28. Dube's 2/25 in the middle overs played a crucial role in restricting Ireland to 154/8. Now, India needs 155 runs to clinch the match and level the series at 1-1.
