Prince Yadav scalped a sensational 3-wicket haul on T20I debut against Ireland in the T20I series finale and it was a timely one for India. The debutant was impressive with the ball in hand as he started off with the wicket of Lorcan Tucker in his 2nd over. Then, he was handed the ball to bowl the final over of the game and he picked up 2 wickets while giving away just 5 runs.
Prince Yadav was brought into the squad as the replacement for Prasidh Krishna, who conceded more than 50 runs in the previous game and the LSG pacer has done far better. He has made a strong case for himself to cement his spot in the side and this performance was a testament to what he could do with the ball.
India have done an excellent job with the ball as they have limited the Ireland side to just 154 after the 20 overs. It was a collective bowling effort from the Indian bowling unit as almost every bowler chipped in with a couple of wickets. Ireland would be disappointed that they couldn’t post a higher total on board as this should be a cakewalk for the Indian batting unit. Shreyas Iyer and his men will be keen on securing the victory in this game to level the T20I series against Ireland.
Prince steals spotlight with memorable debut spell
Prince Yadav was introduced into the attack early into the game and he was handed his first over in the powerplay. He bowled quite well to start his spell but he wasn’t able to pick a wicket and conceded a boundary in the over as well. In the very next over, Prince picked the wicket of Lorcan Tucker and the wicket of the Ireland skipper was exactly what India wanted. He bowled his first 3 overs very economically and was brought back into the attack to bowl the last over. Prince Yadav picked the wickets of Harry Tector and Liam McCarthy to finish the 20th over for India and he conceded just 5 runs.
In the first innings of the game, India had won the toss and Shreyas Iyer elected to field first against the hosts. The Indian pace bowling unit were on top of their game in the first couple of overs as Harshit Rana and Arshdeep Singh picked up the wickets of both the openers. Then the momentum was beginning to shift towards the Ireland side but Shivam Dube picked two wickets in two balls to get India back into the game. The flow of runs seemed to have dried up in the middle overs of the game and the Indian bowling attack did a fine job to restrict Ireland to a score of just 154.
Prince Yadav would be delighted with the start he got to his T20I career as he picked up 3 big wickets to help India have their grip over the Ireland batting unit. The bowlers have done their part and the rest will depend on the batting unit of India, as they have a target of 155 to chase down from the 20 overs in the second innings.
