Shreyas Iyer smashed his first T20I half century as the captain of Team India against England in the first T20I match. It was a good effort from the Indian skipper who came in when India were in early trouble. On a tricky surface India were batting first and lost two quick wickets and were reduced to 6/2. Iyer joined Abhishek Sharma and the duo put up an excellent partnership of 82 runs in 38 balls. Abhishek Sharma was the aggressor as he smashed a half century of just 20 balls, and Iyer consolidated things for India and later took on the attack.

However, it was one of his slowest fifty but also the most important one as he absorbed the pressure and put it back in the opposition.
