World Number 3 Coco Gauff pulled off a big third-set comeback in the second round of Wimbledon 2026 to beat Solana Sierra 6-3 3-6 7-6 (7) after the world No. 56 collapsed under the pressure late in the match. Coco Gauff started off the match in fine fashion as she clinched the first set 6-3. There were multiple breaks in the first set but Coco Gauff ensured to get the job done and took an early lead in the match.

Solana Sierra broke Gauff straight away in the second set and managed to hold her serve as she won the second set 6-3 to force a decider. Both players held their serve in the third set and the match was evenly poised before Solana Sierra got the break and was leading 5-3 in the third set. Coco Gauff managed to break back and take the game to the tie breaker. Coco Gauff survives massive scare to reach Round 3 in Wimbledon 2026

Solana Sierra started the tie-breaker and went to 7-4 quickly needing only 3 more points to win the match. Coco Gauff managed to turn things around in an unreal fashion. The World Number 3 came back from 4-7 to make it 10-7 by winning six consecutive points to clinch the win. It was a terrific battle between these two players but Coco Gauff who was a heavy favorite in the match had to comeback from the brink of defeat to clinch the win. It was a spectacular match which had the crowd on their feet.

Coco Gauff managed to escape another early exit after the upset last year where she lost to Yastremska in the first round of Wimbledon. The American has managed to keep her calm and come out on top as he progresses further in the tournament. Coco Gauff will now face Claire Lu in the next round. Wimbledon has already provided a few big upsets in the initial few days and this match was another very close one which could have gone either way but Coco managed to pull off a spectacular win.
