The Punjab Kings skipper Shreyas Iyer played a one-handed six down the ground off the bowling of Lungisiani Ngidi and the batter himself was shocked with the six. Ngidi is known for his slower deliveries as he has got plenty of success with the variation in this season. This time Shreyas Iyer was beaten by the slowness of the delivery and at one point, it did feel like it was going into the hands of a fielder. But much to the surprise of the batter, it went over the fence for a maximum.

Shreyas Iyer played a captain’s knock against the Delhi Capitals and he played a key role in his side crossing the 200-run mark. He was calm and composed despite the wickets falling at the other end and he was able to find the odd boundary. This match is a huge one for the Punjab Kings as they have lost three games on the trot and they will be keen on ending their losing streak, after a dominant start to the season.

Shreyas Iyer’s composed half-century and Suryansh Shegde’s cameo takes Punjab Kings to 210

In the 1st innings of the game, the Punjab Kings were off to a solid start in the powerplay as they scored 72 runs and didn’t lose a wicket. After the wicket of Prabhsimran Singh, Shreyas Iyer came ahead of Cooper Connolly to maintain the left hand-right hand combination. The decision worked well in favour of the Punjab Kings as Priyansh Arya and Shreyas Iyer were able to navigate through a certain phase. Despite Shreyas Iyer scoring a wonderful half-century, the Punjab Kings needed a couple more in the back end of the innings. Suryansh Shegde scored a power-packed cameo of 21 off just 8 balls to take the side to a total of 210 after the 20 overs.

The Delhi Capitals will have a huge chase in the 2nd innings as their batting order hasn’t been up to the mark. They have lost both their openers in the first three overs and it will be a daunting task for the Capitals from here on in. The partnership between Sahil Parakh and Tristan Stubbs will be the determining factor for the Capitals as they don’t have a lot of batters who can hold the innings. With the likes of Ashutosh Sharma and David Miller still to come at the back end of the innings, they will be planning on leaving maybe 60-70 odd runs for the last 5 overs.
