
Gujarat Titans skipper Shubman Gill came up with his sixth fifty of the IPL 2026 season during the clash against the Chennai Super Kings. Both sides came up with the last home league-stage game for the IPL 2022 champions at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Thursday, May 21. The game saw the visiting skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad win the toss and invite the rivals to put the score on the board first.
The Gill-led side got off to a flying start and home skipper brought out a 23-ball fifty and recorded his sixth half century of the season in 13 innings. The batting sensation reached the milestone on the last ball of the seventh over with a six off a Noor Ahmad delivery. Moreover, he and Sai Sudharsan also recorded the second-most joint 50-plus opening stands in the tournament with 15.

Shuman Gill becomes third-fastest Indian to score 6000 runs in T20s

In addition to recording his sixth fifty of the season, Shubman Gill also achieved another remarkable feat. He became the third fastest Indian to score 6000 runs in T20s. Gill used 185 innings to reach the milestone. Before him, KL Rahul and Virat Kohli joined the club with 166 innings and 184 innings, respectively. The fastest 6000 T20 runs were recorded by Chris Gayle in 162 innings, followed by Babar Azam in 165 innings.
KL Rahul, Shaun Marsh, Devon Conway, Virat Kohli and Shubman Gill are seeded next in the standings with 166 innings, 180, 180, 184, and 185 innings, respectively. However, only three other players have aggregated over 6000 runs in Menβs T20s before turning 27. These players are Babar Azam (7055), Rahmanullah Gurbaz (6385), and Will Jacks (6120).
