The Sunrisers Hyderabad youngster came up with a stunning reflex catch to dismiss Abdul Samad at slip. Smaran reacted well to the tough chance and held on to the ball comfortably in his hands as it came in a very fast manner. The brilliant catch by the 20-year-old added yet another string to his bow as a cricketer as he picked up another highlight-reel catch for his team.
North Zone were at 180/7 after 54.3 overs when the game moved into the second session. Qamran Iqbal stood firm at the crease as he remained not out on 73 from 172 balls which included 10 fours and a six. Kanhaiya Wadhawan scored 35 from 63 balls while Ayush Doseja scored 23 from 30 deliveries. Abdul Samad could only manage 16 from 19 balls before the innings ended when Smaran plucked a stunning catch to dismiss the opener. Earlier, Sanat Sangwan had scored 10 from 19 deliveries while Abid Mushtaq was out for a duck. In the meanwhile, South Zone’s bowling attack kept on getting wickets at regular intervals with Shreyas Gopal and T Natarajan among the bowlers who bagged the prized possession.
Smaran’s dazzling catch was quite spectacular given the manner in which he had to make the catch and his reflexes. It was yet another display of athleticism by the young SRH batter which once again saw South Zone getting a very important wicket.

Qamran Iqbal’s patient 73 anchors North Zone as South Zone bowlers keep striking in Duleep Trophy semi-finals
Qamaran Iqbal remained patient and scored a vital 73 from 172 balls for North Zone in their Duleep Trophy match against South Zone. He has remained not out and hit 10 fours and a six in his patient and steady innings as North Zone made a purposeful start to their innings.The North Zone opener has been in great form this season and his 73 is the highest individual score for him this season. He remained patient and played a stay at the wicket as the new batsmen were coming in and wickets were tumbling in regular intervals. His innings has been vital as North Zone look to post a competitive score.
South Zone’s bowlers kept North Zone under sustained pressure during the Duleep Trophy semifinal. Vidhwath Kaverappa was among the key performers, taking three wickets and breaking important partnerships. T. Thyagarajan also made a strong impact, dismissing Ayush Badoni and Kanhaiya Wadhawan. Shreyas Gopal provided another crucial breakthrough by removing Abdul Samad for 16, with Smaran Ravichandran completing a sharp catch at slip. MD Nidheesh accounted for Sanat Sangwan, adding another wicket to the attack. Their disciplined bowling restricted North Zone to 180/7 after 54.3 overs, despite Qamran Iqbal’s patient 73. The regular breakthroughs ensured the South Zone remained firmly in control.
