Recently, in Maharashtra’s capital city of Mumbai, there was an important event that was happening under the Rotary club. It was a Rotary club of the Bombay airport, to be precise. And amid this August gathering that had assembled to convey ideas and exchange views under the theme of “Gift of Life,” a certain reviewed figure of Indian cricket also was present. Some call him “the original Little Master”. And then, the others who call him the little maestro. And having said that, there are so many others who call him the greatest batsman India ever saw before a certain Sachin Tendulkar walked down the crease to bat.
That man was none other than Sunil Gavaskar. And Sir Sunny, or Sunny G, as he’s lovingly and respectfully addressed, was actually in maths of it all at that very function and on the stage, actually speaking when something interesting happened.
For the longest possible time, we have all identified Sir Sunil Gasvaskar as being a man who speaks his mind, and leaves no quarters to chance when it comes to offering his astute observations and close insights about a game that he is so richly served for such a long period of time in his life.

But on this particular location, the great man from Mumbai stopped, he pause for quite a few seconds, and there was a sudden break in terms of the speech that he was giving to a packed crowd. His address came to a bit of a pause.
But why so? What really had happened? Keep the observations and the intense commentary for a second and utilise that Mr Gavaskar has also been somebody who is quite humorous and lighthearted where it comes to reflecting on the game. And on this particular occasion, his wife actually called him, perhaps unbeknown to the fact that Mr Gavaskar was already giving the speech.
But instead of being irritated or sounding confused or dazed, Mr Gavaskar actually paused to take the call. And here’s what is really heartening to note.
The assembled crowd actually uploaded the fact that Mr Gavaskar responded to his wife that is when he had answered the phone for barely a few seconds.
In lighter vein, one could say wife’s duty is a must isn’t it? Answering to her is a must, isn’t it?
On the whole, it was a very interesting seminar in which commemoration was extended to those responsible for getting no fewer than 850 underprivileged kids had received heart surgeries through the Rotary club of Bombay and speaking on this occasion was a personality tremendously eminent himself, Sir Sunil Gavaskar.
