Kolkata Knight Riders’ veteran bowling sensation Sunil Narine scripted history as his side locked horns with the Lucknow Super Giants. In the 15th league-stage game of the IPL 2026, the KKR hosted the LSG, and aimed for their first victory of the season. While the Knight Riders were aiming to record their first win of the season, things didn’t go exactly as planned for the home team and they suffered a narrow loss to Rishabh Pant and Co.

However, during the game, the KKR star Sunil Narine scripted history and reached a milestone. The West Indies international picked 200 wickets and became the first overseas player to achieve the feat. Narine reached the mark as he picked Mohammed Shami’s wicket, his sole for the night, on the last ball of the 16th over. Shami tried to hit Narine for a six but the ball ended up in Anukul Roy’s hands. The 37-year-old displayed raw emotions to celebrate and punched the air with his right hand.

Sunil Narine’s impact continues to grow

Narine has been a part of the Kolkata Knight Riders since the 2012 season, and he ended up becoming the tournament’s most unplayable bowler. In his debut season, he picked 24 wickets at an economy of 5.47 and earned the Player of the Tournament award. Later, in the 2014 season, Narine recorded 21 wickets as his team won the second title. Ever since then, Narine’s impact on the team as well as the league has continued to grow.

He now stands at 1702 IPL career runs in 192 matches. In bowling, he has picked 194 wickets in 192 games at an economy of 6.81 and the best figures of 5/19.
