Sunil Narine has won the Player of the Match award in both wins for Trinbago Knight Riders in the Caribbean Premier League 2026. The veteran all-rounder has made an impact with both bat and ball in both games, starting with the season opener against St Kitts & Nevis Patriots. Narine finished with figures of 3 for 7 from four overs, including 21 dot balls, as TKR restricted the Patriots to 109 for 9. Rain interrupted and reduced the chase to 15 overs, with the Knight Riders scoring 94 for 2 to win by 19 runs via the DLS method. He produced another match-winning performance against Barbados Tridents at Queen’s Park Oval in Port of Spain.
Sunil Narine picked up 2 for 14 with the ball in the first innings and then opened the batting smashing 55 runs from 33 balls which included one four and six sixes. He was part of a 96-run opening partnership with Colin Munro that put TKR firmly in control. The Knight Riders chased down 128 with seven wickets and 31 balls to spare. The veteran all-rounder was once again the player of the match. Even at the age of 38, he continues to do well across different leagues for this franchise. He has done it in the ILT20 IPL, MLC and now the CPL as he continues to deliver for Knight Riders.
Trinbago Knight Riders beat Barbados Tridents to pick up their second win of CPL 2026
Trinbago Knight Riders came into this match at the Queen’s Park Oval looking to bounce back after three straight losses. They won the toss and chose to bowl first. Sunil Narine opened the bowling and set the tone immediately. He gave away just one run in the first over. TKR continued to be disciplined with the ball. Usman Tariq, Akeal Hosein, Jyd Goolie and Kieron Pollard all were among the wickets as Barbados Tridents struggled throughout. Narine finished with 2 for 14, removing Shian Brathwaite and Gudakesh Motie. Pollard claimed 2 for 19. Zachary Carter was the top run scorer with 28 while Chris Green made 27 as visitors ended up with 127 for 9 in 20 overs. Fifteen of those overs were bowled by spin.
Trinbago Knight Riders cruised home the chase on the back of their openers. Colin Munro smashed to 37 off 26. On the other hand, Sunil Narine scored a half century. He cleared the ropes six times, reaching fifty with a six off Motie. Their opening stand of 96 in under ten overs broke the back of the total. Narine was finally dismissed for 55 off 33, caught off Ramon Simmonds. But the game was all but done as Nicholas Pooran and Pollard scored the remaining runs. TKR finished on 128 for 3 in 14.5 overs as they won the match comprehensively. After a tough few weeks where they lost three matches, the defending champions had their second win of the season and once again Narine was the player of the match.
