
Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) have picked Dilshan Madushanka as a replacement for Brydon Carse for the remainder of TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026. Carse was ruled out of the ongoing IPL season due to a hand injury that he suffered during a practice session ahead of the franchise’s second match against the Kolkata Knight Riders on April 2, 2026. In his absence, England’s David Payne and Sri Lanka’s David Payne and Sri Lanka’s Esha Malinga have been the two overseas fast bowlers for the side.

As for Payne, he made his IPL debut during the season opener against Royal Challengers Bengaluru and picked up two wickets in three overs. On Tuesday, the 2016 winners announced the Englishman’s replacement and revealed that Dilshan Madhushanaka will join them. Madushanka, a left-arm medium pacer, has represented Sri Lanka in 1 Test, 28 ODIs and 19 T20Is and has 70 wickets in international cricket against his name. He will join SRH for INR 75 Lakh. He was previously a part of Mumbai Indians (MI) in the IPL.
