Suryakumar Yadav has been officially retained as the Icon Player for the Triumph Knights Mumbai North East ahead of the upcoming fourth edition of the T20 Mumbai League. The tournament is scheduled to run from June 1 to June 13, 2026, bringing high-octane local T20 cricket back to the iconic Wankhede Stadium. Alongside India’s T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav, the Triumph Knights have retained rising domestic talents Ayush Mhatre and Suryansh Shedge. When the T20 Mumbai League launched in 2018, Suryakumar Yadav used the platform to showcase the fearless, innovative 360-degree strokeplay that eventually fast-tracked him to international stardom. He captained the Triumph Knights to the trophy in that first year.
By retaining him as their Icon Player ahead of the Season 4 auction, the Knights secured the most dangerous T20 batter in the world. His presence bridges the gap between Mumbai's local Maidan cricket culture and global, elite-level sportsmanship. Suryakumar had an uncharacteristically tough campaign with the Mumbai Indians during the recently concluded IPL 2026, amassing just 270 runs. The "Mumbai grind" at Wankhede Stadium serves as his ideal comfort zone. Stepping into an environment where he has total tactical freedom is exactly how he plans to recalibrate his batting rhythm before upcoming international commitments. Yadav isn't just there to score runs; he is tasked with anchoring the development of Mumbai's next generation of superstars. The Knights built their entire draft and retention strategy directly around him.

T20 Mumbai League to start on June 1 in Wankhede
The T20 Mumbai League Season 4 officially launches on June 1, 2026, at the Wankhede Stadium, marking the return of Mumbai’s premier local cricket festival after a multi-year hiatus. The tournament will run until June 13, 2026, featuring a revamped format that integrates both men's and women's elite local cricket. Every single match of the tournament will be played under the lights or day conditions at the iconic Wankhede Stadium. This offers Mumbai’s grassroots, club, and corporate cricketers the rare, high-stakes experience of playing on an international-grade pitch in front of a live, televised audience. In a pioneering move for Indian domestic cricket, the MCA is launching the Inaugural Women's T20 Mumbai League to run parallel to the men's tournament.
To ensure maximum visibility and prime pitch conditions, the women’s matches will kick off every single day at 9:30 AM. The teams will play each other in a double round-robin format (4 group matches each). The top two teams will head directly to the grand final on June 13, creating a historic double-header finale day alongside the men. Matches will be broadcast live across India via Star Sports Network, featuring multi-cam setups, real-time speed guns, and ultra-edge technology.
